So we require a home with kids over 10. He likes his own space but then will join you in the easy chair in the evening. He likes to go for walks but short ones. They purchased him as a puppy then had a child and Chester was confused. The child started hitting & biting him and for a while Chester ignored it but then when the child reached 2 yrs old he was hitting his face with toys so he did what dogs do naturally he protected himself. He snapped at the child but did not break any skin. Dad was mad & that day ordered the dog to be taken to the shelter to be euthanized. SSR was called to take him and now he s fine and will find his forever home soon. We have a 2 yr old grandson in our home daily and Chester has shown no aggression body language posturing or anything of the kind. We always supervise our grandchild with any of the dogs. But Chester will climb into his lap and want to be petted. So we know for certain he isn t mean or aggressive nor a biter. I think it was a one time incident letting the child know hey you re hurting me and if you don t stop I will have to take matters into my own paws which is what happened. So for this reason we require kids over 10 for an adoption.WE DO REQUIRE A HOME WITH CHILDREN OVER 10. IF YOU ADOPT AND WE FIND THAT ANY OF THIS IS BEING USED THE CANINE WILL BE TAKEN BACK INTO RESCUE.We are an all-volunteer group so please be patient and understand that it takes an average of 7-14 days to process the applications including reference checks follow-up questions and home visits. You can expedite the process by providing accurate email addresses for all your references. Time to make phone calls is limited and we often have multiple applications in process so emails are much preferred. We make every effort to move through them as quickly as possible. We do NOT adopt to families with animals which have not been spayed neutered.When your application is approved we will schedule a home visit. If it seems that the adoption will be a good match for all an adoption contract to be signed and there is an adoption fee to be paid. Adoption fee is 285All adopters must be 21 or older. Once the preliminary application is approved a home visit is required to complete the adoption process. All adopters must enter into a legal and binding contract upon completion of the adoption.
