George - Male Pit Bull TerrierAmerican Bulldog Mix

HISTORY George was surrendered to animal control by his owner. He was in poor physical condition and was fearful of loud noises and over head movements among others. AGE 5 yearsWe would love to tell you more about super-smarty-pants George George has quite the trick repertoire. He knows sit down stay come leave it watch (eye contact) paw boom (play dead) time for bed (go to his crate) and is currently learning stick-em up. He also taught his foster parents that when he brings them his harness he wants to go for a walk (yep he did this one on his own). Now they can say go get your harness and go get your leash and he will go get it and bring it to them. He s very smart and very trainable. He would be great fun for someone who likes to teach unique tricks. George absolutely loves his people. He always wants to be by you and it s even better if he can be touching you. He loves cuddling and can miraculously squeeze himself into the open 6 inches on the couch so he can sit by you. His crate is kept in the bedroom with his foster parents and he willingly goes in it at night and doesn t make a sound. He does have some anxiety when his people leave and will try to break out of his crate. He doesn t bark or cry he just tries to get out so a strong crate is a must for him. (His fosters are using a KONG brand crate and it works well.) George was somewhat fearful of people when he was first rescued and is still anxious and fearful in situations with a lot of new people or a lot of activity. He would do best in a low-traffic household. He loves going for walks but overall George is a pretty low-energy chill kind of guy. He doesn t need tons of exercise to wear him out just a few walks a day or some time out in a fenced yard. (A tall secure fence. He had one incident where he jumped a less secure fence.) George really just likes to lounge around the house and be with his people. George has some prey drive so he should not be adopted to homes with cats or smaller dogs. He was introduced to a female dog at animal control and behaved well but he s currently been too fixated on dogs for comfort. He will be spending some time with a trainer to see if he is compatible with other dogs. We feel he might be able to live with certain female dogs after a slow introduction.George would love to become part of your family. In return he will provide unconditional love and he will make sure you know it He s a super smart very affectionate boy. He would be great for someone looking to adopt a dog past the hyper puppy stage.... More Info
