There are so many more parts concerning this subject (divorce) I can t cover them all here. I am trying to get people to study and think about this topic before making a decision that affects them and others in a negative manner. Jeremiah 3 8 And I saw when for all the causes whereby backsliding Israel committed adultery I had put her away and given her a bill of divorce yet her treacherous sister Judah feared not but went and played the harlot also. [God is a divorcee according to the above verse. The word adultery means idolatry they messed around with and worshiped other gods not the one true God.] I would like to ask a question Is divorce among humans the unforgivable sin No In other words it is forgivable if one repents of it in truth. (See Matthew 12 31). If you believe divorce is not forgivable please show me the verse or verses in the KJV Bible that says so. I ll ask some more questions Are you the one responsible for the divorce Can God forgive sin If one truly repents. Then repent and get back on track. Deuteronomy 24 1 When a man hath taken a wife and married her and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes because he hath found some uncleanness in her then let him write her a bill of divorcement and give it in her hand and send her out of his house. This applies to both the woman as well as to the man it is not gender specific. Many so-called scholars say that uncleanness as used here is talking about being caught in adultery however it goes beyond that. It could not be adultery for as we read in Deuteronomy 22 22 the penalty for adultery was death. If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband then they shall both of them die both the man that lay with the woman and the woman so shalt thou put away evil from Israel. So we are not talking about adultery here but the inability to get along with one another perhaps. It could be a number of things but God allows for the bill of divorcement to be written and the separation to take place but the separation requires that it be in writing and publicly stated. God didn t bring about this separation but the man and woman brought it upon themselves.Deuteronomy 24 2 And when she is departed out of his house she may go and be another man s wife. When this woman leaves her first husband she is allowed to be another man s wife when she has the bill of divorcement in her hand. This form of divorcement is basically an annulment of the prior marriage. It is done for a personal reason that he or she considers necessary because the marriage could not stand. 1 Corinthians 7 10 And unto the married I command yet not I but the Lord Let not the wife depart from her husband 1 Corinthians 7 11 But and if she depart let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband and let not the husband put away his wife. (If a spouse leaves a marriage for a reason other than adultery he or she must remain single).1 Corinthians 7 12 But to the rest speak I not the Lord If any brother hath a wife that believeth not and she be pleased to dwell with him let him not put her away. (Paul is telling us his opinion in verses 12 to 15).1 Corinthians 7 13 And the woman which hath an husband that believeth not and if he be pleased to dwell with her let her not leave him.1 Corinthians 7 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband else were your children unclean but now are they holy.1 Corinthians 7 15 But if the unbelieving depart let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such cases but God hath called us to peace. I know this is not complete as of yet this is a work in progress. I must admit I do not understand all of the verses associated with this topic. Divorce is a terrible thing sadly sometimes it can t be avoided. I also know that divorce is not the unpardonable sin in other words it can be forgiven. So there is no reason to treat a divorcee as a lower class citizen remember God is a divorcee according to Jeremiah 3 8. As always study the Bible completely cover to cover.
