Hell

The word hell in the Bible in most places means grave burning garbage pit sepulchre regardless of which original language it was translated from Hebrew or Greek. It is not a constantly burning pit or lake where lost souls burn for eternity as some say. All of the below definitions come from an Exhaustive Strong s Concordance verify it yourself. Hebrew word H7858 sheol underworld grave hell pit Greek word G86 hah -dace from (as negative particle) and properly unseen i.e. Hades or the place (state) of departed souls grave hell. Greek word G1067 valley of (the son of) Hinnom ge-henna (or Ge-Hinnom) a valley of Jerusalem used (figuratively) as a name for the place (or state) of everlasting punishment hell. Some picture heaven (eternity) as a place that includes those that did overcome and those that didn t overcome. How peaceful would it be to you if your relatives that didn t make it were burning like a piece of bacon for eternity right next to you Doesn t sound like a pretty picture to me. I believe the preaching of hell fire and damnation turns people away from learning the truth about God His judgment and what will actually happen when one dies. Food for thought How can something or someone burn forever without being consumed Hmm Whatever you choose to believe study your Bibles completely cover to cover. Use other study tools such as Concordances also. You ll be amazed at what is actually in your Bibles.
