Overview Community Schools are a strategy to organize resources and share leadership to integrate social services into the fabric of the schools. Community Schools are equipped to better serve the needs of families so that students come to school ready and able to learn. Community Schools offer a holistic approach toward improving academic performance driven by strong collaborative partnerships among principals parents teachers and CBOs. In Community Schools parents are real and active partners in their children s education the school climate is joyful and positive expanded learning opportunities are standard. An integral part of this approach is the integration and alignment of school- and community-based services throughout an expanded learning day (such as health mental health counseling and academic enrichment). Critical to ensuring this alignment and coordination is a full-time staff person in the school building the Community School Administrator (CSA). Major ResponsibilitiesServe as an advisor and copartner to the principal providing leadership for coordinating the work of different partners within the school and aligning the work of partners with the school faculty. Develop strong relationships with teachers parents students internal partners and the greater community Work with school leadership and on site Graham supervisors to maintain a focus on results and track progress on school trends- attendance mental health expanded learning opportunities and event planning Provide strong supervision to five Success Mentors in order to support strategic and mindful support to students with chronic absenteeism Attend meetings- Attendance Student Support Group etc. to identify high risk students- (chronic absenteeism social- emotional) and coordinate with Graham staff teachers and families to create and target interventions and track and monitor impact of interventions. Provide task supervision to Grahams School Based Mental Health Clinicians to ensure the delivery of services to students. Organize and oversee needs assessments including the annual Community School Forum and seek input from teachers school staff parents and students to determine ongoing needs of students and families. Serve as a point person for agencies and programs interested in partnering with the school and help to broker new partnerships that are aligned with school goals and needs. Build strategic mechanisms by working in collaboration with other Graham supervisors on site and external Graham programs to effectively link the school day to family resources expanded learning opportunities and mental health services provided on and off site Utilize data tracking systems created by the DOE and Graham to assist with data collection research and prepare relevant data to bring to meetings. Coordinate and plan events with school administration and other onsite supervisors including the allocation of space for student and family support services and for special events. Position Qualifications Bachelor s Degree required Master s Degree preferred. Masters in Social Work preferred Bi-lingual skills preferred. Driver and Influencing professional work styles essential Strong written verbal and organizational skills preferred Ability to work effectively and culturally competent with school aged youth educators families communities and organizations from a wide range of cultural social and economic backgrounds. Experience working in school based settings with knowledge about tenants of community organizing advocacy student support services and youth development theories. Familiarity with DOE systems and structures. History with working collaboratively strong relationship building skills with strategic partnerships
