The Director of Student Activities provides vision leadership and direction for dynamic campus programing and campus programming board that supports intellectual personal and social development for all students focused on building an engaged and vibrant campus. The Director will work with the staff to ensure that there is a comprehensive calendar of events that provide intense community building and student development. The Director will also play a pivotal role in supporting the development and success of student organizations and advocating on behalf of student leaders and organizations including Greek lettered organizations and their governing councils. This position will help advise support and direct the assigned governing councils and fraternity sorority chapters overseeing their general activities and assisting with event development and management leadership accountability and budget oversight. This position will report to the Associate Dean of Student Life. The Director maintains a visible presence on campus must be available to work hours outside the traditional work week and is actively engaged in the creation implementation and support of many large scale campus events and traditions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Direct oversee and coordinate programs and services of the Office of Student Activities and Fraternity Sorority Life. Focusing on student engagement in co-curricular activities and a thriving Greek Life Lead and supervise the Student Activities and Fraternity Sorority Life Team including the Coordinator of Student Activities and Student Activities Specialist Finance Division Fund Administrator. Create and implement innovative programming and community engagement opportunities that influence student engagement and retention Develop and maintain a robust student programming calendar keeping in mind collaborative opportunities with campus and Student Life partners Oversee the RSO management software Bulldog Connect powered by Presence Maintain develop and implement departmental policies including RSO handbook Use of Grounds and Posting Policy Work collaboratively with Administration and Finance General Council Risk Management to ensure spending and vendor contracts adhere to University policy Prepares administers and manages the various departmental budgets and student activity fees (approximately 600 000 annually) and expenditures related to the department including co-advising the Finance Division of Student Government (allocator of student activity fees) Serve as a delegated contract authority authorized to sign entertainment contracts less than 75 000 for programming associated with student organizations. Provide support and direction for student clubs and organizations including program planning and promotional support supervision advising training and evaluation Serve as a risk manager for student and campus activities and student organization Oversee traditional programs including Bulldog Beginnings Student Homecoming Committee Family & Friends Weekend January Spring Welcome Torchbearer Award Ceremony Develop and incorporate assessment into programmatic efforts to evaluate the achievement of goals related to student learning and engagement. Serve as an instrumental liaison between campus and external partners students alumni National Offices and other stakeholders on behalf of these priorities. Collaborate with chapter advisors to provide guidance expectations and support to chapter presidents officers alumni and advisors through regular meetings Provide program oversight for formal and informal Greek Life recruitment periods including marketing and programming efforts to increase awareness of Greek Life amongst the student body and University community. Develop and maintain quality educational programs for fraternity and sorority members focusing on leadership risk management social responsibility financial responsibility community service initiatives and membership recruitment. Complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Serve as a Campus Security Authority and as a Responsible Employee as defined by Clery Title IX and Campus Policy. Responsible for maintaining confidentiality of designated information and for performing all duties in compliance with University federal and state regulations. Perform additional related duties as required. EDUCATION & SKILLS Minimum Master s Degree from an accredited college or university or Bachelor s degree with at least 8 years of related experience. Experience planning and managing large scale programing within at a college university. Experience providing student advisement within student governance structures preferably with student clubs organizations community service and or Greek letter organizations. REQUIRED WORK EXPERIENCE Minimum At least 3 years of experience in student activities or closely related field. At least two full-time years of experience working in student activities and or Greek life in an educational setting. Demonstrated experience in collaborating effectively and facilitating positive working relationships with students parents administrators faculty and staff in a university setting. Demonstrated commitment to inclusion and equity within a diverse organization team or campus community. Effective communication skills. The ability to manage and complete tasks in a timely manner. Experience planning and managing large scale programing within at a college university. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Previous supervisory experience Experience with the campus engagement platform Presence Previous experience advising a Greek letter organization governing council or campus programing board.
