The ChallengeWe are hiring an entry-level hard-working transportation worker to join our Alamance County Maintenance team to perform preventative maintenance repair and construction of state-maintained roads and features. In this role you will Perform manual maintenance Installing traffic and erosion control devices clearing right of ways repairing pavement and assisting with pipe installation and other drainage tasks. Use hand and power tools and operate heavy equipment. What You BringAbility to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds. Experience using small hand tools including shovels rakes brooms post hole diggers hammers screwdrivers and torches. Experience doing manual labor. Excellent work ethic with good ability to listen be safe and follow verbal and written instructions. Skills and experience safely using power tools such as a chainsaw weed eater skill saw drill compactor and jackhammer. Notes You will be required to work in extreme hot and cold weather conditions on uneven surfaces and slopes and in an environment with noise vibration hazards and oils. You will be subject to emergency call backs and must be able to work days and nights during snow and ice operations and other adverse weather extreme situations. You must obtain or have a valid State commercial driver license with N endorsement within 90 days of hire and if you don t have it when hired you must get a permit with the n endorsement within 30 days. A pre-employment drug test is required We will do a background check with your last 2 years of employers about drugs alcohol. Safety toe footwear is required within 30 days of hire.
