They are at building highway and heavy construction sites residential and commercial sites tunnel and shaft excavations and demolition sites. Many of the jobs they perform are physically strenuous and may require special training or experience. Other jobs require little skill and can be learned quickly. The job duties of aGeneral Labour vary sometimes even day-to-day at the same site. They may include cleaning and preparing a jobsite loading and delivering materials using different tools and machines such as blowtorches driving forklifts reading levels operating lifts and manning power drills grinders saws pressure washers and water spraying equipment. Labourers set up and take down ladders scaffolding and other temporary structures. They help carpenters masons and other specialized contractors. Shift Timing - 1st Shift (Day) Responsibilities Include Performs various semi-skilled tasks in the installation operation maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment construction and in general building and grounds maintenance (i.e. irrigation systems plumbing splash pads water services dry wall ceramic tiles concrete timber rubber flooring and masonry). Assists various Trade workers and other Handy workers in their work. Performs general construction maintenance and repairs such as building repairs setting up equipment form and brick work asphalt concrete plant materials repair of furniture equipment etc. Performs general grounds keeping duties such as landscaping snow removal laying of sod installation of precast and timber retaining walls plant material parks furnishings flooring materials etc. Performs inspections and makes adjustments and repairs to equipment. Performs a variety of work not requiring the services of a licensed trade. May be required to provide work direction and training to other staff. Performs other related work as assigned. Qualifications There is no minimal educational requirement but specialized training can help Labourers advance Experience on commercial construction sites .
