Citronella essential oil

Citronella essential oil is extracted from the leaves and stems of two kinds of citronella grass: Cymbopogon nardus and Cymbopogon winterianus. These plants are native to Asia s tropical areas, but they are widely grown in other parts of the world, including South America and Africa. The essential oil is extracted via steam distillation, which involves heating the plant material and collecting and condensing the steam, resulting in a concentrated liquid containing the volatile aromatic chemicals of the plant. Citronella oil is well-known for its bright, fresh, lemony aroma as well as its insect-repelling capabilities.
