The saker is one of the largest members of the falcon family - reaching up to 55cm in length with a wingspan that can reach nearly 130 cm. The bird is commonly confused with the slightly larger gyr falcon as a result of its extremely large size although it is actually more similar in appearance to the Lanner Falcon. The breed originates from Eastern Europe but over time it has also spread to areas of Asia.
