Electrician II - Oklahoma State University

Repair and maintain all types of interior and exterior electrical systems and equipment to include panel boards breakers fuses fire and security systems public address systems computer network cable lighting and mechanical and HVAC equipment. Ability to interpret blueprints and schematic drawings. Repair and maintain all type of motors and controllers to include bearings seals motor leads rebuild shafts troubleshoot motor integrity and motor drives. Employee in this position is required to be on rotating standby for emergencies and or any other event after 5 p.m. weekdays weekends and holidays. Employee in this position is required to work overtime when work requires. Employee in this position is required to work shift work when work can t be accomplished during regular hours and when the Management staff deems necessary. Overtime is an essential function of this position and may require work during nonbusiness hours which include evenings Saturdays and Sundays. Work might be conducted in wet vaults and tunnels or working in rainstorms snow and dusty or noisy conditions. Seasonal considerations include heat of summer and cold during the winter. This position is heavy in manual labor and requires the physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and in excess of 50 pounds occasionally. Must use appropriate personal protective equipment as required (gloves respirator arc flash apparel safety glasses etc.) These items are not for personal use. The incumbent will be required to provide their own basic hand tools and maintain them in good working condition. Must be able to perform snow and ice removal tasks and respond at any time of the day or night when scheduled by management regardless of the weather conditions. Some irregular and extra hours as needed for projects and emergencies. Emergencies frequently involve difficult working conditions. This may require work during nonbusiness hours which include evenings Saturdays Sundays and when the University is closed. Perform other assigned duties related to operations maintenance and renovations to buildings and equipment such as preventive maintenance light duty carpentry painting electrical plumbing and other miscellaneous repairs and maintenance activities and respond to emergency and urgent work. Required High School graduate GED with four years of prior successful work experience involving electrical maintenance motor repair electronics troubleshooting controls and other electrical maintenance in the building trades or technical field at a building maintenance organization or two years post-secondary education involving electrical maintenance motor repair electronics troubleshooting controls and other electrical maintenance in the building trades or technical field with two years of prior successful maintenance experience in a university commercial or industrial building maintenance organization. Have before hire and maintain after hire a valid driver s license. A valid driver s license must be maintained for the operation of an OSU vehicle which is required in the performance of job duties as assigned. Commercial industrial and residential electrical experience. Bending conduit industrial electronics all types of lighting systems and controls. Working on ladders and heights variable speed drive repair electrical calculations interpretation of National Electric Code. Ability to become proficient in the use of Aim Computerized Maintenance management System (CMMS) software and the use of mobile technology. Preferred Vocational Technical education in Building Trades or Technical Field Two years post-secondary education in the building trades with three years of prior successful work experience involving electrical maintenance motor repair electronics troubleshooting controls and other electrical maintenance in the building trades or technical field at a university commercial or industrial building maintenance organization. Obtain Electrical Journeyman License within 6 months of hire and maintain after hire.
