Well established University is looking for Systems Analyst Developer (Cognos Banner Oracle Reports Exp.) Location Athabasca AB Duration Permanent Job Summary As a Systems Analyst Developer the incumbent is part of a team responsible for application administration technical support system analysis software development and technical expertise for the Administrative Information System and related systems at University. The duties are applied to maintenance and enhancements related to the Administrative Information System and all related systems. As a result of the responsibilities of this position the incumbent will work closely with all levels of the administration within the University with technical and business experts from outside agencies and in tandem with other Information Technology Services staff. Responsibilities Analyze Design Develop and Implement Enhancements Relating to the Administrative Information System and Supporting Systems (20%) Perform system analysis develop requirements documents design develop test implement maintain and document well engineered enhancements and other projects for the Administrative Information System and related systems. Application Administration and Support (30%) Serve as the principal authority and technical expert for the Finance Travel and Expense and Workflow subsystems within the Banner Administrative Information System. Provide user support data management administrative support and respond to requests for technical assistance for assigned subsystems. Work with relevant business units to keep the subsystem up-to-date with respect to policy procedures and standards. Act as the primary escalation contact for assigned subsystem-specific problem resolution. Recommend changes that could be beneficial to the end users or the University in general. Provide 3rd Level Technical Support to end users of University s Administrative Information System and Related Systems (40%) Provide end user support to help resolve software procedural and data problems encountered by end users in their day to day use of the Finance subsystem of the Administrative Information System and related systems. Ensure the cleanliness of the data in the Administrative Information System and related systems. This includes Performing analysis to determine what the data corruption or data anomaly is and how it occurred. Correcting the data corruption anomaly. Reporting on how to best prevent similar data corruptions anomalies in the future. Perform regular maintenance tasks that ensure that the Administrative Information System continues on-going trouble free operation. Other Duties (10%) The incumbent is responsible for providing consultation to end user departments staff on the Administrative Information System. Work with Database Administrators System Administrators other software developers and external IT professionals to enable a smooth transfer of data between academic and administrative areas. Provide general guidance within their areas of expertise to other developers at University. During emergency situations performs related duties responsibilities as assigned by the Coordinator Administrative Systems. Participation in project unit and departmental meetings occasionally chairing the meetings and working cooperatively with others. Perform required tracking and reporting requirements in compliance with departmental best practices. Education Experience A degree in Computing Science recognized in Canada and a minimum of three years of computing job experience or equivalent combination of 7 years of education and experience in a computing field. Experience with Ellucian Banner ERP products is required. Preferably Banner Finance (technical and functional experience) Banner Travel and Expense Banner Workflow Banner ODS. Experience with Cognos Framework Manager and Advanced Reporting tools is required. Understanding of systems development methodologies and direct experience involving all aspects of systems analysis design programming testing and systems implementation. Knowledge and understanding of relational database theory and design preferably Oracle 11 and computer networking technology. Advanced programming experience in current programming environments and relational database systems analysis and design Oracle Forms and Reports is preferred. Proven ability to thoroughly and logically analyze systems applications by utilizing both deductive and intuitive reasoning to recognize potential problem areas within a system and to predict the ramifications of alternate solutions. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required to secure the cooperation and respect of the user community and team members. These skills must include strong oral and written communication skills as well as a high degree of tact diplomacy and persuasiveness. Requires advanced SQL experience Oracle preferred. Considerable programming experience on various platforms including UNIX and MS Windows in conjunction with a relational database engine preferably Oracle. Knowledge of Toad as an investigative tool would be beneficial. An understanding web related application such as Java would be valuable. Familiarity with an academic institution environment or the associated specialized areas of technology. I.S.P. registration is considered to be desirable for this position. ITIL Foundation certification desirable.
