Visiting Director of Orchestral Studies

Conduct the OSU Symphony Orchestra including all administrative responsibilities. Serve as string area coordinator and oversee string area recruitment. Establish and maintain a rapport with public school teachers in the region. Additional teaching assignments will be made according to the successful candidate s expertise and may include undergraduate and graduate level courses or courses in music education. In addition to instructional assignments all music faculty are expected to be productive as scholars artists and to engage in departmental university and professional service. Earned doctorate preferred Masters required. Evidence of successful conducting and recruiting experience at the university level required. Evidence of professional orchestral conducting experience desirable. Background in string music education pedagogy or public school teaching a plus. Assignment begins August 16 2015 and will be as a visiting assistant professor and is contingent upon funding. Salary negotiable and dependent on qualifications.
