Sacred Harp Sing

The Panhandle Pioneer Settlement in Blountstown Florida will be presenting it s 10th Annual Sacred Harp Sing on Saturday February 15 2014 starting at 9 30 am CDT. Sacred Harp Singing aka FaSoLa or shape note singing is a uniquely American tradition and has been preseved in the South since colonial times. Singing Gospel Hymns without the accompaniment of a harp or any other musical instrument this singing a capella from shape notes. Come and enjoy this special southern tradition and also enjoy dinner on the grounds. Visitors are requested to bring a homemade pot luck dish or dessert for all to enjoy and to show off your cooking baking skills. Guided tours will be available. Free admission. Donations are welcome.
