Northwest Student Exchange is looking for volunteers to host foreign exchange students for the 2014-2015 academic school year. Our students are 15-18 years of age have their own spending money and health insurance and are fluent in the English language. Our students earn good grades and are very active and hardworking. They are seeking to improve their knowledge of the English language and American culture during their stay. Below are some of the student bios Beatriz is a 16-year-old girl from Brazil who loves to read volunteer spend time with friends and family and go to the gym. Beatriz and her friends started a book club together where they meet every week to discuss a common reading project. She and her friends also get together to go swimming and attend youth group. In her free time Beatriz likes to go to the gym and stay active. Her interests include cooking music collecting and surfing the net. Beatriz s family is close-knit. They like to play board games watch movies go to the park and eat out. At home she helps with laundry dishes and babysitting her younger sister. Beatriz volunteers in her hometown during school vacations she is an outgoing teen and is keen on exploring volunteering and cheerleading during her stay in the US. Teachers describe Beatriz as a motivated and excellent student. She has a friendly personality is knowledgeable thoughtful and can easily make friends. Beatriz s native language is Portuguese. She has been studying English for 8 years and has a high level of proficiency in the language. Beatriz earns good grades in her coursework. Her favorite subjects are English and history. She would like to pursue engineering or journalism in the future. Beatriz lives with her mother father and younger sister. Her father is a teacher and her mother is a saleswoman. Beatriz has no allergies to pets or dietary restrictions. She would prefer to live in a bird-free home. Enzo is a 16-year-old boy from Brazil who stays active attending extracurricular English classes regularly visiting the gym and playing sports. Enzo especially enjoys soccer gymnastics table tennis and volleyball. At home in addition to his school work Enzo is expected to help with chores and take care of his dog. His family is close knit. They eat dinner together every evening. Weekends are often spent with family and friends playing soccer watching movies or barbequing with relatives at his grandparents farm. Enzo is an outgoing and communicative teen he enjoys being with and making new friends. Teachers describe him as an interested student who is always up for a challenge. Enzo s native language is Portuguese. He attends English classes twice weekly and has been studying the language for 5 years. Enzo has also been studying Spanish (3 years). Overall he has achieved good grades in school. Enzo s favorite school subject is math. He would like to study business management in the future. Enzo lives with his mother father and younger sister. His father is an economist and his mother is a teacher. Enzo has a dog and can live in a home with pets. He has no dietary restrictions. Northwest will pay a referral stipend of 150.00 to any individual or organization who can find a suitable host family. Stipends are paid one week after the student has arrived and settled in.
