Northwest Student Exchange is seeking passionate host families willing to host two very creative and highly talented foreign exchange students. Northwest is a nonprofit organization that is affiliated with the Department of State. We are dedicated to providing affordable foreign exchange opportunities both here and abroad. Camila is a creative well-rounded student from Ecuador who loves music participating in school activities hiking and spending time with her family. Music is her passion. She has been studying piano for 7 years and takes daily lessons. She also loves to sing. She participates in various recitals and concerts throughout the year and is also active in school shows. Camila recently sang and played piano at a poetry reading at her school. In her free time she gets together with friends to watch movies and spends lots of quality time with her sisters. Camila and her sisters like to watch soap operas together go on walks and go shopping. They spend some weekends away at their family s country house where they swim hike and play board games. Her family is close-knit and she has many relatives who enjoy getting together to celebrate holidays. Camila spends her summer vacations away at walking camp and enjoys being out in nature. Her interests include painting photography surfing the internet and reading. During her exchange she would like to try skiing if possible. She is a very responsible communicative and amiable young lady with clear objectives for the future. Teachers love Camila s good disposition and dedication to her schoolwork and to school activities. Camila is currently in the 10th grade. Her native language is Spanish. She has been studying English for 2 years and shows an aptitude for learning the language. Camila earns very good grades in school. Her favorite subjects are social studies and math. She would like to become a plastic surgeon. Simon is a 16-year-old boy from Germany who loves playing basketball and playing the piano. He s going to a school that offers a musical track so it is something he really enjoys. In his spare time he likes to play basketball meet friends and he also earns some pocket money working as a paperboy. In the winter Simon also likes to snowboard ski or ice skate. He is very curious about daily life in America and wants to experience an American high school and community. He describes himself as very open-minded and is looking forward to meet his host family and spend the year with them. During his exchange he would love to try out Lacrosse and American Football. Simon was born in the U.S. but his family moved to Germany when he was very young and one reason for him wanting to go on an exchange is to experience the country he was born in. Simon s native language is German. He speaks good English and has studied the language for six years. He has also studied Latin for four years. His favorite subjects in school are history and sports but he s not really sure yet what he wants to do after he graduates. His teachers describe Simon as an interested friendly polite and open-minded boy with a good sense of humor who is well-liked by his fellow students and teachers. He has also been elected class representative. Simon lives at home with his parents. He is mildly allergic against grass pollen and is afraid of spiders and snakes. He does not have any dietary restrictions but likes to eat healthy. He would not live with a family where members of the house smoke. For more information on becoming a host parent please visit us online at www.nwse.com. You can apply online there as well. Even if you cannot host Northwest will pay you a referral stipend of 150.00 if you can find a suitable family for a student.
