Category Camping Description Position Summer Food Leaders Job Classification Part Time Hourly Reports To Summer Food Monitors Administrators General Function To represent the YMCA personally professionally and in a manner in accordance with the mission and goals of the YMCA.Under the direction of the Monitor or Administrator the assistant plans and implements site curriculum maintains records communicates information to families and maintains a safe healthy warm engaging and attractive environment. Age-appropriate activities should provide for growth in skills self awareness group relations and character development. By conducting themselves in a caring responsible honest and respectful manner the Leader Teacher is a healthy role model for children and adults. Know How Must follow all health food safety and sanitation guidelines. Must have skills in Working with Families Conflict Resolution and Public Relations. Knowledge of group process must agree to work in harmony with other staff. Must be committed to the philosophy and goals of the YMCA. Must possess effective leadership skills and crisis management skills. Must possess and utilize excellent organizational skills. Attend Corporate training on Child Abuse Prevention within the first 60 days of employment. Attend Corporate training on Blood Borne Pathogens and Sexual Harassment within the first 60 days of employment. Attend Summer Food Service Training. Must posses First Aid and CPR certifications within six months of date of hire. Responsibilities Keep safety of children as a first priority. Emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with the children families and other staff at all times. By personal example helps to interpret the quality of the YMCA character values of children staff and families. Must be a positive healthy role model. Assist the Site Supervisor with the supervision of children to ensure the safety and appropriate behavior and manage transitions smoothly. To work with the Site Supervisor to meet the daily duties needs of the program and to be responsible for making sure that materials are ready for use and put away at the end of the day. Assist with implementation of both recreational and educational programs that emphasize group participation. Stays alert to children s needs. Frequently takes head counts at the beginning during and at the end of each activity period. Reports all accidents and unusual incidents immediately and assists with necessary documentation. Attends all staff meetings and training sessions. Participates in at least five hours of training per year. Communicates program information programs and concerns as they occur. Performs other duties as required by supervisor (remains flexible). Effect on End Results Effectiveness measured by- A warm engaging environment for children staff and families which meet quality standards and EEC licensing requirements. A developmentally sound program for children which provides positives channels to grow learn and develop to their full potential. A program which meets community needs in a manner consistent with the YMCA mission. Position Requirements A minimum of a 2-year degree or 2 years of equivalent experience is required. Must possess an understanding of computer systems including Microsoft Suite accounting procedures and good business practices. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of customers as well as the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with minimal supervision. Experience in record bookkeeping data management customer service and & general office functions a plus. Skills in working with families conflict resolution and public relations. Knowledge of group process - must agree to work in harmony with other staff members and other families. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job the employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms talk or hear. Keyboard operation and moderate movement is primarily in an office-based environment. The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
