Cultural Exchange Opportunity--Student s from Germany

Stella is a 15-year-old girl who loves singing and photography. In her free time she tries if she has time to go jogging with her father and is very active with her band. During her stay in the U.S. she s looking forward to trying out cheerleading track gymnastics and other sports. She is also excited about learning about American culture and traditions during her exchange. Her favorite books are The Outsiders The Hunger Games and Looking for Alaska . Her teachers describe her as a very open-minded and communicative girl that is motivated to engage every new topic and embrace new experiences. Stella s native language is German and she has studied English for seven and Latin for three years. She earns good grades in school. Stella lives at home with her parents her sister and their dog. She does not have any dietary restrictions or pet fears but is moderately allergic against cats. She would live in a family where members of the house smoke. Lina is a 15-year-old girl from Germany who loves horseback riding participating in school activities and spending time with her family and friends. Caring for her horse and riding occupy a significant part of her free time she is a member of an equestrian club and enjoys riding with friends. At school Lina served as representative of her class before skipping 9th grade to enter 10th grade last summer. Lina enjoys living near her extended family likes playing board games with her family in the evenings and is used to helping with household chores. She is eager to experience family life in the U.S. Although Lina lives in a small village she has had the chance to meet American exchange students who were placed in her community. The experiences they shared helped raised her interest in becoming an exchange student herself. Lina s curiosity about life in the US is also due in part to movies like High School Musical and hearing from friends who have studied abroad. In the U.S. Lina would love to have the chance to continue horseback riding and to explore new sports and activities including volleyball and drama. Her interests include photography backpacking cooking watching movies and reading. Lina is a highly motivated bright caring and sensible young woman who is a good team worker and puts great effort into all of her pursuits. She is well-liked by peers and adults alike. Lina s native language is German. She speaks good English and has studied the language for seven years. Lina earns good to very good grades at school and has also studied Latin (four years). Lina s favorite subjects include history German English and math. In the future she would like to study economics at college. Lina lives with her mother and father. Her father is a policeman and her mother is a hairdresser. Lina has a dog and a horse. She does not have any allergies. Benedikt is a 14 year old (15 at the time of the exchange) boy from Germany who loves playing the trumpet and playing tennis. He also tutors younger students in school and in his free time likes to go to the movie theater with his friends (he really likes comedy and action movies) or meet them and go swimming or inline skating. He is also part of the big band and the brass ensemble in his school and would love to become part of the orchestra at an American school. Benedikt s native language is German. He speaks good English and has studied the language for four years. He has also studied French for two and Latin for five years. He earns good grades and his favorite subjects are math and music. After he finishes school he would like to become an engineer. Benedikt s teachers describe him as a hard-working reliable and committed boy and a quick learner who is well-liked by his peers and teachers. Benedikt lives at home with his parents and one younger and two older siblings. He does not own any pets does not have any allergies or dietary restrictions and would not want to live in a family where members of the house smoke.
