MANAGER FOR CLINICAL PUBLIC THREATNEVADA STATE PUBLIC HEALTH LABORATORYRENO NV The Manager for Clinical Public Threat at the Nevada State Public Health Laboratory (NSPHL) is responsible for the daily oversight and supervision of theNSPHL clinical and public threat monitoring sections. Employee will work approximately 40% on the bench in the areas of responsibility. Areas of responsibility include bacteriology virology parasitology mycology TB serology water bacteriology and bioterrorism testing response. Other responsibilities include monitoring of performance measures in the NSPHLdepartmental operations of responsibility. The position assures the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) utilized in the areas of responsibility are working as designed documented appropriately and LIMS processes are tested and validated before being used in the production LIMS environment. The position assures employees are adequately trained perform necessary competency assessments on regular intervals and participate in national proficiency testing programs as well as participates in the long-range planning for the unit. The position acts as the Technical Consultant for the Community Health Nurses and Washoe County Health Department Nurses throughout the State of Nevada (or assures a designee) assisting with competency evaluations training needs and educational support. The individual supervises the Laboratory Response Network (LRN) Bioterrorism Emergency Preparedness section ensuring adequate coverage and bioterrorism testing coordination during an event. The NSPHLClinical Public Threat Manager promotes the NSPHL assures the upmost professionalism is demonstrated by staff stimulates a positive outlook employee behavior and develops action plans to improve service to its clients. NSPHLsections of responsibility are regulated accredited by various bodies including College of American Pathologists (CAP) Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments 1988 (CLIA) State of Nevada Department of Environmental Protection (NDEP) Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Food and Drug Administration. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four years or a Master s Degree and two years of management experience in a clinical laboratory setting to include performing laboratory testing monitoring productivity and utilizing current laboratory information system technologies. State of Nevada laboratory personnel certification as a General Supervisor or the ability to obtain one within three months of hire is also required.
