CONKERR CANCER LOS ANGELES - FOCUS- CHILDHOOD CANCER PATIENTS

We are a local group (LOS ANGELES AREAS -- including South Bay San Gabriel Valley San Fernando Valley and Los Angeles Proper) which makes and donates bright coloful fun themed pillowcases to children in local hospitals. We currently serve 6 local hospitals - Children s Hospital in Los Angeles Miller s Children s Hospital in Long Beach Mattel s Children s Hospital in Westwood Huntington Hosptial in So Pasadena (CANCER CENTER) Kaiser Hospital in Los Angeles (SUNSET) and CITY OF HOPE in Duarte. In the three years we have been in existence here in the Los Angeles area - we have delivered to these hospitals 3 Ronald McDonald Houses (Los Angeles Long Beach and Pasadena) and a few other locations over 10 000 pillowcases. Our Volunteers and Supporters have made this happen and our goal is to bring a smile to every child who is fighting cancer or other serious or life threatening illnesses in local hsoptials. We have events monthly in different areas and encourage you to join us at any event. We also encourage you to sew at home (if you like) and either bring to the events or drop off at any of our drop off locations listed on our website WWW.CONKERRCANCERLA.ORG. If you are not in the Los Angeles area but would like to find a group near you you can go to our national website and look up your state to find the city closest to you for drop off locations and event listings www.conkerrcancer.org. We have lots of things to help with -- sewing is a big part of this and I don t know how many people have told me that they cannot sew --only to have me prove them wrong. These are very easy to do and we help you every step of the way. Of course there is more to do - ironing cutting packaging etc. We can use your help. Bring your friends or relatives sewing machines if you have them and get ready for good times. We are also working on setting up some fundraisers as everything we do is based on donations and fundraising is a big part of them.
