Visitor Services Associate Employment Type Hourly (1 position available) Reporting to the Museum s Assistant Operations Manager Visitor Services Associates facilitate all aspects of the Museum s front line operations including Provide excellent visitor service process guests and collect payments through ticketing and membership communicate information about Planetarium shows special events exhibits drop-in activities and other programs foster a professional atmosphere clean workstation and stock the ticketing desk. Weekends holiday and evenings may be required. Required Qualifications and Experience High school diploma or equivalent. The ideal candidate will have strong customer service supervisory and hospitality skills in addition to experience in a retail or other customer service oriented establishment. Excellent computer skills and proficiency in using a point of sale system is required. Duties Admissions Accurately process ticketing transactions in person on the telephone or via written communications. Verify that all visitors receive a pass after admissions processing. Assist with training of new employees. Take a proactive role for the sales servicing and ticketing of all programs offered by the Museum. This individual is knowledgeable of all of the promotions planetarium shows and special events. Ensure guests are well informed on all featured experiences when they are ticketing and pricing for the entire NJSM portfolio. Conduct daily cash reconciliation and batch posting. Run attendance reports as needed. Complete other duties as assigned. Visitor Service Model excellent customer service and demonstrate poise in patron interactions. Welcome every visitor with a smile. Give every visitor a guide with a map and answer any questions about the exhibits and layout. Suggest exhibits and programs based on knowledge of the visitor gathered through interaction. Be aware of current visitor surveys and focus group opportunities and promote those to visitors. Collect and process visitor surveys. Look over the group schedule daily to be aware of groups slated to arrive. Direct arriving groups with reservations as their schedule dictates. Call the education bureau if group questions arise. Be knowledgeable about and promote museum membership. Verify that there are sufficient handouts for the day including museum visitor guides planetarium show schedules and museum brochures. Re-stock end of day. Responsible for lost and found following museum guidelines. Keep track of guests arriving for appointments with museum staff and alert staff as needed. Field artifact questions by stating Museum policy for donations and appraisals and contacting the appropriate bureau curator as needed. Communicate with NJSM Staff Attend meetings to be knowledgeable on up-to-date exhibits programs shows and policies. Attend all training sessions as assigned. Provide feedback as requested including but not limited to attendance reports what visitors are saying about the museum both good and bad policy feedback and suggestions for changes.
