Orphanage

The orphanage was founded in April 2001 in response to the high levels of homeless children and street children in Kolkata. The orphanage provides a safe and secure environment for these vulnerable children. We strive to create a loving family atmosphere dedicated to helping the children build character and advance in academics. The children attend English Primary School Monday through Friday with additional tutoring in the evening where the boys study and complete homework. The children have formed a close-knit living family and have adjusted well to school as well as maintaining high standards and good discipline. Another objective of our Orphanage is continue to run an on-site medical dispensary offering medical care for the sick and the destitute. The medical care is offered free of charge to people within our community.We have 10 boys in our care between the ages of 5 and 12. The boys are like brothers and know each other very well. The boys are friendly and love learning about the volunteers and their experiences. They are always eager to play football or cricket.We are looking for volunteers to help the children in their studies and English language skills share quality time and play with the children. The children attend an English Medium School off site so our volunteers would be required to teach tutor the children. It will help our boys achieve good grades.The orphanage is 55 kilometers from Airport. Type of help. The room has two triple bunk beds with a balcony. Additional accommodations can be arranged. There are also two showers one western toilet and a washing machine available. We will provide you breakfast lunch & dinner. We ask volunteers to pay stipend for food & accommodation.
