HOURS Monday thru Friday some Holidays On call 24 7 at least one scheduled late evening flexible schedule and subject to change JOB SUMMARY Manages counseling units to insure that needed counseling services are available for and provided to all trainees. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Plans and manages the counseling program 2. Provides on-going management and guidance to counselors in caseload management case documentation and counseling techniques 3. Establishes performance standards to evaluate counselors effectiveness and prepares Employee Development Plans to improve professional development 4. Holds weekly case conferences utilizing the services of the center Mental Health Consultant 5. Provides agency resource contacts for counselors 6. Assists counselors in group counseling 7. Acts as a resource leader and trainer for other staff in areas relating to counseling 8. Insures counseling case documentation is up-to-date and available for Department of Labor and corporate audits 9. Observes SST training sessions and makes recommendations for improvement 10. May maintain an individual trainee caseload REQUIRED EDUCATION EXPERIENCE Minimum Bachelor s degree in counseling psychology or related field. Must have 15 semester hours of undergraduate or graduate course work directly related to counseling. Three years of counseling experience one of which was in a supervisory capacity. Preferred Previous Job Corps Experience Knowledge Required Sound knowledge of counseling and supervisory techniques. Must be able to effectively communicate with culturally disadvantaged and minority youth. Ability to obtain a State driver s license. Excellent communication skills both oral and written. Must obtain and maintain valid CPR FA certification. Good organization skills. Ability to inspire and motivate staff.
