Child Care Aide 1 and Child Care Aide 1 Substitute LOCATION Batavia SALARY 27 755 (at)10-month rate and 15.95 Hour (at) substitute rate The New York State School for the Blind in Batavia NY is seeking to fill a Child Care Aide 1 or Child Care Aide 1 Substitute position to work in the residential after school setting. The incumbent of this position will be responsible for maintaining the safety and well being of students escorting students to and from activities attending to students personal hygiene needs and the development of appropriate daily living skills and providing supervision and assistance as necessary. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Candidates must be able to read write and communicate effectively with students and staff follow written and spoken instructions and relate to the students being supervised. Incumbents must be in good health good physical condition and able to perform moderate to heavy lifting of children and participate in physical activities such as swimming. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Special consideration will be given to candidates with the following qualifications An Associate s Degree or higher in the Human Services field. Experience as a Nurse s Aide Skills in sign language Experience in behavior modification orientation and mobility Certification in water safety CPR first aid advanced first aid or EMT. Demonstrated skills working with the multiply disabled. High School diploma or equivalency CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT This will be a permanent 10 month position (Child Care Aide 1) or a temporary on-call position (Child Care Aide 1 Substitute) for coverage of the 2nd and 3rd shifts. 2nd shift hours are Monday Tuesday and Thursday from 2 00pm to 10 00pm or 11 00pm Wednesday from 1 00 pm to 9 00pm or 10 00pm or 11 00pm and Sunday from 5 00pm to 10 00pm 11 00pm. 3rd shift hours are Sunday thru Thursday from 11 00pm to 7 00am. Fingerprinting through the Department of Criminal Justice Services a background check with the New York State Office of Children and Family Services and clearance from the Justice Center Staff Exclusion List are required for employment.
