One of our Semi-Government Agency client is looking for Mainframe Specialist (DWH Shell Scripting Cognos Exp.) Location Downtown Toronto Duration 12 Months with possibility of extension DESCRIPTION Application Specialist (Mainframe) MUST HAVE Solid experience in designing developing troubleshooting testing and implementing Mainframe Application. Solid experience in COBOL JCL DB2 SAS VSAM CICS CA7 FOCUS and Infoman. Working knowledge of scripting languages like Korn Bash Shell scripting. Expertise in RDBMS Data Mart and Data Warehouse design. Knowledge of data modeling. Experience working with high volume data exchange and transaction processing systems preferably in a custom software development environment. Experience writing well documented unit tests and executing them. Ability to express complex technical concepts effectively both verbally and in writing. Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile Methodologies. Degree in computer science or equivalent work experience. NICE TO HAVE Experience with ETL and Data Stage Experience working with IBM Cognos BI tools Guidewire knowledge for Policy Centre Billing Centre Contact Centre Responsibilities Work closely with Business analysts and team members to understand business requirements and implement technical solutions based on mapping documentation. Perform impact analysis of existing Mainframe code in Legacy systems (i.e. EIW ODM PDM Datamarts IM Catalogue). Leveraging analysis of Legacy systems candidate will help derive analogous solutions in new Enterprise Warehouse. Update Creation of new existing Mainframe code to fulfill new business requirements and feed Legacy data into new Enterprise Warehouse for Reporting purposes. Transition and Knowledge Transfer of Mainframe code to Production Support team during Production cut-over and Warranty phase of project. Create update maintain appropriate system documentation identifying potential problems and implementing solutions to ensure the efficiency and reliability of the IM operations. Provide technical assistance advice and guidance to Information Technology Cluster (ITC) staff and business users in response to enquiries on the functionality of BI ETL tools and data in EIW and related datamarts to ensure efficient and un-interrupted IM services to the business users. Candidate should be conversant with methodologies and job design with a sound knowledge and experience of integrating input jobs from disparate systems and be able to maintain the Boards standard best practices.
