La Belle poque Anarchy Depression. In the nineteenth century effects of colonialism and international trade progressively influenced European national style of art and design. At wars end a victorious France celebrated with the 1925 Exposition Internationale des Arts D coratifs et Industriels Modernes. In America a decade of boom was followed by a decade of depression and lost hope. The 1930s saw a new design discipline emerge. The actualities of increased industrial competition economic reality and commercial acumen were responsible for creating the new profession of the industrial designer.
