Affectionate Reserved Loving Athena is a tender sweet-hearted cat who lovingly sacrificed and cared for her five kittens until they were weaned. She is cautious and timid until she gets to know you and trust you. Once that happens she wants and eagerly awaits your companionship and love. Athena doesn t enjoy being held or picked up but she adores other types of affection. Her fosters find themselves just staring into her big beautiful eyes and report that they can t keep their hands off of her enticingly soft coat. That suits Athena just fine She is extremely fond of getting scratches...especially under her chin and when it comes to rubs--over her ears and on her belly are her most desired go-to spots but head to tail pets please her too She will sometimes even put her paws on your hands and gently guide them to her favorite areas. Athena is so gentle with children and has never brought her claws out around them. But she does run and hide under the bed whenever small children or lots of people enter her room even those she knows and loves. She feels more comfortable with only one or two people at a time. If one of those people happens to be you your heart melts at the contented cuddles and purrs she gives you We don t know how Athena does around other cats. As for dogs she has been kept separated from the ones in her foster home. But she hisses and becomes very anxious when she hears or smells them. Athena is pretty low energy when it comes to playing. She doesn t chase pounce or climb on things...unless you count the bed She loves to jump up and snuggle at night or sometimes she ll quietly roam around the room exploring. Athena is an ideal companion for someone who wants a loving constant friend and who doesn t have a lot of chaos in the home.
