From April 10-16 2016 AS220 presents its inaugural Modern Movements Festival. This week-long festival presents 7 dance companies and choreographers presenting 6 performances. Friday April 15 and Saturday April 16 at 8pm Bill two features a broad geographical base of artists including 2016 RISCA Choreography Merit Award Winner Betsy Miller in a collaboration with Washington D.C.-based Matthew Cumbie Palestinian artist Farah Saleh and NYC-based Alison Cook Beatty and Dancers. Miller and Cumbie will premiere an original duet that aims to explore and explode the possibilities for virtuosity in movement performance and presence while questioning assumptions and challenging our expectations with heart humor and play. Farah Saleh current Visiting Artist in Residence at the Pembroke Center at Brown University will present A Fidayee Son in Moscow an interactive piece which attempts to archive gestures of Palestinian children who studied during the 80s at the international boarding school Interdom....
