Dane County Sweet Potato Project

The Dane County Sweet Potato Project is a way to engage Dane County residents to support with food insecurity. The goals for this project will be to educate the Madison community on how to grow their own sweet potatoes and to provide donations for local food pantries. Growers are asked to donate half of their harvest to a local food pantry. Sweet potatoes are a great option for this project because they are a nutritious superfood that if properly cured can last 6-12 mons without refrigeration making them ideal for food pantries. The slips are from Kansas State Horticulture Program and will be delivered in the early June.
