The Human Resources Assistant assists with the administration of the day-to-day efficient operations of the human resources functions and duties. The Human Resource Assistant carries out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas departmental development employee relations training and development benefits compensation organizational development and employment. The Human Resources Assistant helps with the implementation of services policies and programs. QUALIFICATIONS Associate s Degree in Administrative Office Management Human Resources Management or similar field with two or more years of administrative support experience in Human Resources. Must be physically capable of performing duties of the classification Must be able to read write and communicate in Standard English Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations. Job Duties and Responsibilities Compose correspondence reports for own or manager s signature Arrange essential mail in priority action Check deadlines on incoming requests and put preliminary work in play Process replies on own initiative or per direction from manager Research draft or abstract reports Do phone surveys inquiries as needed Maintain calendar Allow decision desk time for manager s meetings prepare agenda in advance arrange meeting facilities act as recording secretary and prepare action minutes Assure discreet handling of all business in all communications Maintain storage retrieval systems Update and manage filing system Process payroll for employees by collecting reviewing and recording employee time and payroll data from a variety of systems and sources for our payroll software Record maintain and update employee information such as hiring exemptions transfers terminations and resignations to maintain and update payroll records Process background checks on employees Assist in processing unemployment claims Assist in the administration of workers comp claims Process all requests for garnishments Set up and maintain all employee master files Assist in governmental compliance and reporting as assigned Employee safety welfare wellness and health reporting Take initiative on requests and inquiries of administrative nature Seek training on projects outside employee s area of expertise and Comprehend circumstances of various situations and make appropriate individual(s) aware for decision-making.
