s www.gofundme.com saveupparksandrec Hello my name is Greg Stolte I am the son of Eric Stolte and a student in University Place Washington. Unfortunately the city of University Place has decided to cut the entire Parks and Recreation service out of the budget of 2017. That means at the end of 2016 all youth sports all senior enrichment activities all art and music camps all summer camps and the maintaining of public parks will be terminated. All of these programs that the entire community loves will be gone and are not likely to come back. Kids will not be able to play the sports they love. Seniors citizens will not be able to go to the senior center and all trips and tours will be gone. Not to mention all of the jobs that will cease to exist. I have decided to take things into my own hands because I have participated in the city s recreation my whole life. Through sports I have learned how to work as a team create long lasting friendships and grow up to be a contributing member of society. This city s program has also provided me a place to volunteer at summer camps to try and give back to everyone else. Now I fear that other kids in the community will not have the same opportunities as I did. They will not experience the same personal development that I did. I cannot imagine living in a community where there are no sports camps or public parks all of which improve the well-being of everyone. All of your donations will go towards saving UP Parks and Rec. which hopefully will be long enough for the people to try and convince the city to put it back on the budget. This goal needs to be reached by the end of 2016 or University Place will never be the same connected active and energetic community it has been.
