When Zelda arrives in the DC area she d love a foster home or better yet a forever home to come to Special adoption considerations none known Zelda is a happy and easy-going 1-2 year old Bluetick Coonhound mix weighing around 37.8 lbs. She gets along well with other dogs and likes to have a good time with her canine and human friends. She is incredibly sweet and so gentle when she was taking treats when we got to take her out of her kennel in the shelter. She loved getting to sniff the grass and warm herself in the sunshine. Could you give her that simple joy for the rest of her life Zelda has an playful active and curious personality and will need both mental and physical stimulation on a daily basis to keep her happy and healthy She would benefit from frequent trips to the dog park or even doggie daycare so she can socialize with her canine friends And of course upon returning home she d love to shower her new family with tons of kisses and cuddles. She would love to attend obedience training with you to learn some new tricks and of course to get some more treats Like most shelter dogs Zelda may need a refresher on housetraining. She is likely crate trained. She gets along with other dogs so she d love to join a pack if you already have any dogs but would be just as happy to soak up all the attention herself. Zelda has not been cat or kid tested but let us know if you have cats or kids and we can find out Zelda has tested positive and is being treated for Heartworm disease. Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets but results from mosquito bites. Heartworm if left untreated is life threatening but after treatment dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. The adoption fee for this dog is 450 which includes the cost of routine vetting including vaccinations spay neuter and heartworm treatment.
