This bike would make a great Fishing bike for fishing on the Gilbert Canal. The device with a circumference of 12.5ft has been made by joining nine bicycle frames together to create a circle. It has a total of nine wheels nine handlebars nine saddles and nine chains. Although riders cannot go anywhere on it they can have great fun by peddling round and around. Inventor Christopher Metcalfe used salvaged parts from 30 bikes to build the unique machine. We wanted to create something very playful and enjoyable for people of all ages so came up with the concept of a carousel. I began with nine bike frames but I actually ended up using parts from a total of 30 different bicycles. Parts of the frames are welded together but there are nine sections of it which are bolted so it can be dismantled. Once I had finished I just left it in a public place and watched as people became curious and jumped on. It proved to be a big hit and with a speedometer I found it could reach up to 15mph. I have had several people approach me with the prospect of putting the Circular Bike into production so hopefully it will be soon. I have received interest from all sorts of places including children s museums who want to use it as a learning aid for teaching about forces.
