He is such a great pup it won t be long. Max is an absolute joy. If you are looking for a young dog who still has some puppy in him Max might be the man for you. He is very social and loves just about everyone. It seems that before coming to rescue he was neglected. He was an owner surrender with his mom and brother and is only 10 pounds. All of his ribs and his spine show through his skin but he is happily working on putting a little bit of weight. His first reaction can often be flattening himself to the ground in fear or startling at any noises. He s gotten quite a bit better and is steadily improving. Max s ideal forever home is one that is patient with him while he learns to be a dog. He responds well to positive reinforcement and because of his background he needs a home that will not use negative punishment on him at all. He was not potty or crate trained when I got him. We are working on both. Max currently has 1-2 potty accidents a day but is making progress. He does much better with another dog around to show him the doggy ropes. I do not think he would do well on his own as he gets upset when he s left by himself. He would also do best in a fenced yard he still has puppy energy and he loves to sprint and play fetch. While I wouldn t call him high energy as in nonstop energy I would say he is moderate. As with puppies he has high spurts of energy before settling down to a nap. This little man is a huge cuddle bug and very dependent on people (and other dogs) for love and affection. He cuddles with my 2 y o dachshund almost as much as he cuddles with me. He LOVES to burrow in his blankie and snuggle close to people. We welcome out of state and Canadian adoptions but we will not ship any dog via cargo. You will have to make arrangements to pick up the dog or for them to go by ground transport. If you choose transporting by either volunteers through our organization or by paid transporter there will be an additional 45 Fee added for the required Health Certificate. We will not adopt into the state of CT RI or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have an issue with this you need to take this up with your legislatures. We are now approved to adopt foster in the state of NH but adopters will have to pay health certificate fee of 45.00 once to get the dog to our quarantine facility and another 50.00 fee to get the dog out of quarantine after two days.
