The Nurse practitioner is used in a variety of ways and provides a wide range of medical services. The majority of their work is concerned with performing more routine tasks which have been traditionally been done by physicians. The Nurse Practitioner may be the first one to see the patient take the initial history do an appropriate physical exam and order laboratory or x-ray work. With physician guidance as necessary they may diagnose and treat many common problems. The Nurse Practitioner may be called upon to make hospital and nursing home rounds and house calls. A large part of the duties is to educate the patient and the community about illness family planning health hazards child care and other aspects of health care maintenance. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide clinical services in areas of preventive medicine episodic self-limiting diseases acute serious diseases chronic long-term disease counseling EKG services physical treatment accident treatment medication and others. Hospitalization will be provided through and in consultation with the supervising physician. Under the direction of the supervising physician referrals will be made to other health care providers as necessary. Other duties as assigned. Licensed RN and APRN BLS CPR or ACLS required.
