Olympia - Female Domestic Shorthair

Olympia is a sweet tortoiseshell kitten (born about April 2016) who was turned in to a local high-volume shelter with what appeared to be a broken ankle and a large wound on her right front leg. She was hungry and thin but managed to meow and rub against the kennel doors between bites of food. A volunteer took her home to foster and then to her veterinarian the next day. The wound was from the kitten walking on that area of her leg instead of the foot - the x-rays did not show any broken bones but severe nerve damage was suspected. The vet recommended amputation of the leg since Olympia had lost all feeling in that foot and lower leg and the leg was being pulled upwards towards her body due to the nerve damage. What caused the damage to her leg is unknown (a fall hit by a car abuse etc). Olympia is doing very well in her foster home where she is being cared for by the volunteer who saved her when her situation was urgent at the shelter. She is a delightful little gal who enjoys exploring the house and she loves to play with feather toys and other cats if they are interested. She is also a snuggler and can occasionally be found napping on her foster dad s stomach while he watches a movie ) Olympia will be available for adoption sometime in October after she recovers from her surgery - if you are interested in opening your heart and home to this little darling please contact SCP ...
