Clyde - Male Labrador Retriever

My name is Clyde and I m just about the most loving young-at-heart 8-year old yellow Lab you ll ever meet My foster parents are already head-over- heels in love with me My two favorite things in the world are my humans and fetching tennis balls thrown by my humans. I will fetch as long as you are willing to throw So you will need to be the responsible one to tell me when it s time to stop But playing fetch is a perfect outlet for my energy level and since I will need to be exercised in some fashion every single day fetch is a win-win I am a work-in progress with my leash manners. I tend to pull because I love love love all of the wonderful new smells on my walk and just get excited. But I am improving day-by-day and with practice I know I will become a great walking partner I am also learning my basic commands and so far I know Sit Down and Clyde Come. I m still working on Stay Leave It and Off. I get along great with dogs of all ages and sizes. I will make a great hiking partner because I m not one to run off once I realize that you are my person. I am a perfect gentleman in the house and have NO separation anxiety whatsoever I can be trusted so much that my foster parents have chosen not to crate me when they leave So while I am not presently crate-trained I am OK with being in the crate. I am well-mannered in the house as I do get on any furniture unless invited. I m happy to sleep in my dog bed at night in your bedroom (or in your bed if invited). I m not a really big boy weighing in at just 60 pounds. Admittedly I m a little skinny and my foster mom thinks I could stand to gain about 5 to 8 pounds to be at my optimal weight. But that is an easy fix. To be honest I m not the best in the car because I get scared. I whine a bit but I think it s because I haven t had a lot of experience going on trips. So that is an area in which I will need work and most certainly improve with time. But with treats and more and more trips I will see that going bye-bye is everything good My perfect home will have a family that allows me to be a participating member. A fenced yard and a basket full of tennis balls is a must I would love siblings (whether they are dogs human kids or both) I do get excited at times so maybe having little kids around me might not be the best because I might knock them over by accident. I ve not been around cats but I m sure with proper introduction we could make it work. I like sticking close to my humans. I am smart so if you have a dog door I ll learn that concept very quickly. I will need continued training in leash work car rides and basic commands but other than that I am good to go I promise if you love me I will love you back unconditionally 100 times over If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet please fill out the Online Application ...
