Athena - Female Shepherd (Unknown Type) Mix

Athena is a friendly girl. She loves going for walks chasing her ball in the back yard and being near her people. Athena is house-trained - no messes in the house for this girl She has done well at the dog park running to play but staying near enough to find and return to her foster mom frequently. She is good with all people she has met large and small. She is learning to stay off as she likes to be eye-to-eye with everyone.Athena is smart. She has learned the commands sit and down. She comes to her name. She likes to ride in the car but needs encouragement to get in. She has no problems being handled on any parts of her body. She tolerates baths calmly. She has no problems with any surfaces or stairs. We have not had the opportunity to introduce her to any cats. Athena stays in her crate during the day while foster mom is at work. She does not like to go into her crate because it means she will be alone for awhile. She much prefers to be around her people for petting cuddles and kisses. She sleeps in foster mom s room and does fine there all night.On a leash Athena walks calmly most of the time. When she sees a squirrel or another dog she tends to pull in excitement. We are working on this but formal training in heeling will help. Athena is estimated to be about 1 year old and weighs about 45 pounds. Since we don t know at all what doggy genes are in the dogs make up (we don t know who mom and dad are ) we are just guessing on breed.All dogs are spayed or neutered prior to adoption. They have all had a vet exam are up to date on vaccinations have been given a dewormer are treated for fleas have a heartworm test if over 6 months old and are up to date on a heartworm preventative.Please note that because we require a home visit at the time of adoption we can only place animals in homes within a 60 mile radius of Minneapolis.
