Intern - Electric Area Engineering Jobs

Description This internship will start early summer of 2013 and will be located in Ft Collins CO. It is preferred that the successful candidate is available to work part-time during the school year and return full-time during school breaks. Participation in extra-curricular activities on campus or through technical societies highly desired. Position Summary Perform engineering assignments designed to assist the local engineering staff with electric distribution system reliability and power quality issues. Under the supervision of an engineer develop professional works (i.e. calculations presentations etc.) knowledge and abilities utilizing engineering judgment and prescribed methods and techniques. Assist in the investigation and resolution of electric power system reliability problems and complaints. Acquire data through various systems and field inspection recommend solutions as appropriate and clearly communicate findings to internal and external customers as necessary. Some of the daily responsibilities will include Conduct field inspections and patrols of the distribution system. Coordinate protective devices using engineering software. Analyze outage data and develop plans to improve system reliability. Analyze new construction designs to ensure uniform application of engineering standards. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering program Sophomore status in Electrical Engineering degree program (when work commences this summer). Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbally Must be self- motivated have good mechanical aptitude and ability to work well with others Must be eligible for employment in the United States. Must have a valid driver s license. Preferred It is preferred but not required that interns be available to work 10-20 hours per week during the school year and 30-40 hours per week during the summer.
