Elmo is a seven-week-old Partridge Rock hatched 8 10 15. He s a sweet little guy but I m not allowed to keep roosters and I need him to have another home before he starts crowing and Grumpy Gus next door pitches a fit I was hoping to keep him a little longer and sell him when I sell off some extra laying hens but he ll be crowing long before then and I don t want to irritate my already-grouchy neighbor. Elmo has been raised with five female chicks his age and three older hens he s a little flighty but will settle down in your lap if you bribe him with dried mealworms or fresh baby spinach. He s been on Purina Start & Grow Medicated chick feed. I ferment my feed so he s used to that but I m sure he ll transition fine to dry feed. I ll send some fermented feed home with you so you can transition him to whatever you plan to feed him.
