Oscar and Nova are a sad story. They had a great partnership with a teenage girl were showing and trail riding and having a fabulous life. The girl went off to college and was killed in an automobile accident her first semester. Her family cared for the boys for several years longer keeping their beloved daughter s beloved horses but they realized that sitting in a pasture with little care and attention wasn t what was best for the boys. They visited CWER were pleased with what they saw in how we care for our horses and asked us to bring them here.Nova arrived having had access to quality feed and caring humans but limited vet care and some issues caused by people with little horse knowledge caring for him the last few years of his life. His hooves were in rough condition as was his coat and he was about 75 lbs underweight.May 2015 We had Nova s teeth floated extensively and he will need additional work in fall 2015. He has been dewormed. His coat is improving slowly but remains course. We re looking forward to seeing what his winter coat looks like. He is gaining weight slowly but needs to gain additional weight coming into winter.Nova has been foundered up front but moves well in the pasture.At this time we don t yet have a definite idea of his best career path. However due to his prior hoof issues he will likely need a light duty career such as being a walk trot partner for mellow trail rides or similar jobs.... More Info
