Sawyer comes to us from Hoke County Animal Control a kill shelter in North Carolina. Sawyer was part of someone s family who had to relocate and left him behind. A story we hear way to often. He s approximately 3 years old and a gorgeous Shepherd Mix. He s neutered up to date on his vaccines and has a clean bill of health. Sawyer needs someone who is going to spend a good amount of time reassuring him. He simply lacks confidence and wants to be by a human s side 24 7. He s crate trained house trained good with cats and dogs (cats were tested at shelter through a cage) but is afraid of being left behind. Wouldn t you be after your family abandoned you He walks well on leash besides almost tripping you because he s glued to your side at all times. He has already made advancements in his foster home and will now go potty on his own in the yard without us having to be by him. He s a little chunky so we have him on a green bean diet with his dry food and a healthy exercise regimen. He s not a vocal dog. Sawyer s favorite past time is to give hugs and kisses. He s a smart boy and does know a few basic commands such as sit stay come . Sawyer is so so so sweet. Sawyer is in foster care in NC but can be transported to our MD or NJ rescue locations for an approved adopter. Part of our process is speaking with his foster family to hear all about his daily routine and likes dislikes. He ll do best in a home where someone is home almost around the clock. He does not need a fenced yard as it would probably benefit him to be out and about for both exercise and socializing. He s a fairly mellow guy so apartment living would be okay if the apartment is spacious and Shepherd mixes are allowed.
