Nutters is a very sweet cute easy to handle Syrian (aka Teddy Bear) hamster. He was bought for a family but then no body took care of him. We hope his next family is more attentive He is easy to pick-up handle and we think would be fine for any family. Even though he s small he ll need lots of care. And because of his size he can be easily injured so it s very important children are watched when they interact with him.Nutters is one of the most handsome Hamsters we ve seen here. We love his dark fur and it s gorgeous coloring. Like all hamsters he prefers to sleep during the day and party at night Although he s not cranky if you wake him during the day he would just prefer you don t. Nutters can live in a cage like this or an aquarium. Cages like this are better because it gives him bars to climb and the ventilation is better and healthier for him. A few hiding places and things to climb on will suit him just fine.His new family should give him at least one night to settle in before the socializing starts. The easiest way to socialize a Hamster is to put your hand near them palms up and give them time to sniff and (hopefully) crawl onto it. This could take several days so patience is key. (With hamsters it s always better to go VERY slowly with them. Letting them get used to smells and sounds in a new environment will put them at ease.)A large cage equipped with a running wheel (enclosed not with holes) lots of clean fluffy bedding (Care Fresh) a few hiding places and a varied diet will keep her healthy and content. Hamsters live on average about 2-3 years. Hamsters can be great pets for children but because of their size parents should always be supervising when interaction is taking place.
