SAMSON NEEDS URGENT LIFE-SAVING SPECIALIZED HERNIA SURGERY. Please contact us about our sponsorship adoption program.Samson is a purebred Belgian Draft Horse who was rescued on his last day from a Los Angeles County animal shelter. He was confiscated by Animal Control together with his herd buddies who were all victims of starvation and neglect. Additionally Samson was clearly abused and mistreated as he is very shy and has trust issues as well.Samson is a kind and gentle giant and he is recovering as can be seen from his shelter photo but still has a long way to go. Recently he had a two-week 5400 hospital stay and expensive emergency vet calls for sand colic which resulted in nefro-splenic displacement entrapment. He recovered well but it was a very close call from eating dirt and sand when he was starving to death. However the resulting hernia on his belly now threatens his life.We are deeply grateful for any donations to pay for Samson s overwhelming vet bills and his upcoming 10 000 hernia surgery. We can provide names of the veterinary practices to which we will owe (and currently owe) these large sums. If you know of anyone who would appreciate very good tax deductions please tell them about Samson s plight. He requires continued care and we are dealing with his ongoing weekly veterinary bandaging until his hernia surgery which is the only thing left to tackle on his path to complete health again.We would be grateful for donations sponsorship to help not only with Samson s huge bills for his weekly veterinary treatment and care but also for his special board (extra large corral and shelter) and big feed bills (over twice what an average horse eats and more now as he needs to gain back 200-300 pounds). Samson s ongoing veterinary and care costs currently total over 1200 a month as our veterinarian is trying to heal his hernia with weekly bandaging and treatment--a further result of his malnutrition and starvation--but now it seems surgery will be needed to save Samson s life.
