Happy little Dakota has been in his foster s home since he was 6-1 2 weeks old weighing only 6 pounds. In his foster s words . He has been a joy since day one He now (August 15 at 16 weeks) weighs 28 lbs. (and thinks he s a lap dog). If he reaches his full size potential he may top out near 80 lbs He ll take every opportunity to sit on your lap (even though he obviously takes up more space than is available). We sit on the floor a lot more these days because he s not permitted on the furniture but loves human interaction. He loves to have his belly rubbed He ll lay down and roll over if there s a chance his belly can get a good rub. He s very playful and prefers the indoors (perhaps because of the black coat) he drinks a lot of water and loves to be in close proximity to his human family. He enjoys playing in and near the water but is not particularly fond of baths. When outside with the water sprinklers or when I m watering flowers he likes to play in and run through the water as much as he can. He also enjoys chasing bubbles when I take the bubble wand for outside play. One of his favorite toys is a stuffed penguin Baby Penguino . He sleeps with it and loves on it often. Dakota learns quickly he knows the sit command and is usually compliant with stay and come (BLUE Bits treats by BLUE are a great incentive for him). He loves the children in our neighborhood and they love him. He interacts well with the kids who come to our yard to see him. He enjoys the company of other dogs but shouldn t be in a household with very small dogs. He spent four days (while we were on vacation) with a family who had three miniatures and came home with undesirable behaviors he has since overcome those behaviors. He s never been around cats but has recently discovered squirrels and it is fun to see him try to give chase.
