Clancy - Male Border Collie Mix

Clancy is a 2-3 year old 60 lb male Border Collie mix. He was turned in by his owner because the owners other dog didn t get along with Clancy and since the other dog had been there longer they decided to give Clancy up. Clancy is a highly intelligent dog who knows how to sit and shake and is ready to find his forever home. We began fostering Clancy on July 31st. What we can tell you after a couple of days is that Clancy is a great looking dog who is a very loyal lovable dog and has a big heart. He just loves being around people. His first couple of days were about as good as could be expected. Clancy is learning the routine where first thing in the morning we get up go outside and go to the bathroom then come inside and eat breakfast. We are teaching him some manners and have him sit before we feed him although he already knew that. Clancy would do great in a home with another dog or would be fine by himself. We currently have another foster Gonzo a 35 lb Black Lab mix and a 70 lb German Shepherd mix of our own and there have been no issues among the dogs. Clancy has been very patient with our other foster who is younger and more energetic. Clancy enjoys playing with toys and nylabones. He has shown no aggression with toys or food either. We ve taken Clancy on a couple of walks so far and he s done great exploring the new smells in the neighborhood. He appears pretty mild mannered so far. Clancy is crate trained and currently goes in there if we leave the house. He has been out this week since someone has been home and only goes in his crate at night. We also feel he is ready to sleep in our bedroom on the floor but in order to maintain peace with the other foster dog we keep him in the crate. Clancy appears to be fully potty trained and has watered our plant once. But as with all new dogs we keep an eye on him and make sure he is let outside and gets into a routine. Basically all Clancy wants is to be loved played with and given some attention. Clancy really enjoys being near you and wouldn t mind being up on the couch and snuggling up with you if you are watching TV.I would say Clancy has a medium level of energy and would do great in just about any type of home. If you want him to play he has the energy but the nice part is he can relax nicely and be very calm. I certainly see him being able to go for a walk or jog around the block with you. Clancy enjoys the outdoors and roaming around our fenced in backyard. This handsome guy deserves a forever home and would make a great addition to your family.
