Adopt Joey S a Cockatoo bird in Denver CO (14696010)

Joey was hatched at a large parrot breeding facility outside of Miami FL. He s wearing an open stainless steel band which usually were assigned to wild caught or imported older birds when they were in USDA quarantine. In Joey s case the breeder elected to put this band on his leg most likely because he was banded after a closed band could be applied.Joey was once the pet bird of the breeder s son. When bird and child separated Joey was going to be put back into the flock as a breeder but Joey wasn t interested in other birds - he d been someone s pet and had a home. When the breeder relocated her facility from FL to TX many of the birds were placed elsewhere and some came to TGF. That s how Joey came to be with us. Joey has made a couple of other Umbrella cockatoo friends and it s not in Joey s best interest for him to become a solitary companion pet bird nor go into another cockatoo breeding facility....
