Umbrella of Hope Be Our Pet six year old 80 pound Rottweiler SPAYED FEMALERemember Rosalie Rosalie is a 6yr old 80 pound Rottweiler. She was surrendered to Contra Costa Animal Services by her previous owners to be euthanized. Why Well since they had valued her uterus more than they valued her as a dog she was unspayed and developed a tubular mammary tumor as a result.Rosie as we call her was happy and gentle and calm and sweet. She won over the hearts of several shelter employees (including 1 who is not usually a rottweiler person ) and they asked us to take her into our program. The lovely veterinary staff at the shelter removed her tumor and sent it off for biopsy for us.Mammary tumors in dogs can be prevented at a rate of 99.5% by spaying dogs before their 1st heat. Even so around 50% of the mammary tumors that dogs do get are benign. She lost the game of chance on both. Her tumor was an adenocarcinoma which is malignant and has a high rate of reoccurance and metastasis....
