Athena is a young mixed breed dog that came to Heath s Haven Rescue in March from a shelter in California. She is a small girl about seven pounds and we think she is about 2-three years old. We were contacted because she was not able to use her hind legs and did not know when she had to eliminate her bladder or bowels. Once she arrived we immediately took her to the neurological specialists at WSU and she was having spinal surgery the next day. The surgeon removed multiple bone fragments that were putting pressure on her spinal cord and causing her paralysis and incontinence.After six weeks of recovery rehab and physical therapy Athena can now walk and run and play She regained complete control of her bladder and bowels and is already housetrained Athena is a very special girl looking for a very special home You see Athena was most likely abused by her previous people and she has a hard time trusting new people at 1st. Once she gets to know you she gets attached very quickly....
