NEWT is AVAILABLE For more photos of NEWT please click -X -.----XX.- newt.html NEWT is 9 years young and a very active male border collie mix weighing 55 lbs. His coat is short curly and wiry. He may be mixed with Chesapeake Bay Retriever but some think he looks McNab with the signature white tip on his tail. NEWT really loves his people. What matters most to him is hanging with and pleasing his person(s). He will lie next to you hang out on one of our many dog beds or go to his crate but a mention of his name or a quick glance and his tail starts thumping the floor. Acknowledge him and he is at your side ready to be petted and loved. NEWT is house and crate trained. He has good recall sits on command and knows down. He will run and chase a ball all day long bring it back to you and eagerly await the next chase. We even play flashlight ball when it s dark. Like most border collies he needs to be occupied. We would strongly urge you to accompany him on his trips outside until he gets used to his surroundings and a bond has been established. He can easily clear a 5 foot fence and WILL go looking for you (or chase cats small animals) if you are not paying attention. Forming a trust and a bond will be keys for NEWT. NEWT is very praise oriented. Petting saying good boy and giving him treats will go a long way towards creating that bond. NEWT gets along well with our other dogs. Currently we have 3 females and 3 males including a 6 month old pup. NEWT is fine with our dog savvy cat but we are cautious with our younger kitty when they are in the house together. He stares intently at the little guy and will nip in an effort to play. If he sees cats outdoors he will chase them. NEWT is micro-chipped neutered heart worm negative and on preventative and up to date on vaccinations.
